Connect people to homes across Kenya, with transparency for everyone
Nyumba254 is Kenya’s open platform to list, find and manage property. Every listing shows who listed it and what a viewing costs, before you get in touch.
Finding or listing property in Kenya should be open to everyone involved: buyers, tenants, owners, caretakers, agents, and companies. People should be able to discover properties and understand the terms before making contact.
Nyumba254 brings listings and enquiries together in one marketplace. There is no commission charged by Nyumba254 on a sale or rental agreement. Agents and companies may optionally disclose a viewing fee on a listing; any fee is agreed and paid directly to the lister, not collected by the platform.
We believe the rental and property market in every corner of Kenya, not just the big cities, deserves a modern platform that lets people choose how they participate and connect with one another.
How we got here
A problem we saw everywhere in Kenya, not just one city
Nyumba254 started from a genuine frustration: people often cannot tell who is listing a property or what fees may apply until they make contact. Unclear agent fees highlighted the need for better visibility, not for excluding any role.
The idea was to build a clear listing platform where owners, caretakers, agents and companies can show their roles and any viewing fees upfront, giving buyers and tenants the information they need across every town and county.

How we keep it trustworthy
A marketplace is only as good as the people on it. These are the checks and clear details built into listings and conversations.
Role verification
A role is a lister's claim; verification is proof. Role-specific badges identify Direct from owner, Agent, Caretaker or Company. Listers without verification show “(not verified)”.
Chat first, numbers on request
You message the lister on Nyumba254 first. A lister's number is shared only when you choose to reveal it, and only if they've allowed it.
Reviews with a right of reply
Buyers can review a lister after making contact, and listers can reply publicly under the review.
Request a viewing
Check the viewing fee on the listing, pay only that fee to the person you meet, get a receipt, and never pay rent or deposit before viewing.
Report anything suspicious
Every listing has a Report button. Our team reviews every report and can suspend accounts that break the rules.
Clear viewing fees
Agents and companies set their own viewing fee, which is shown on every listing. Listings without a fee say “Free viewing”. Pay any fee directly to the lister; Nyumba254 does not collect it.
